I enjoyed appearing with you in a recent article in which the CNMC warns of the confusion that generates the term “virtual battery”. It is important to declare that we do not deal with a physical battery, without minor compensation, and that the ahorro that we offer is neither similar to a real battery.
Imagine that you are offered a “virtual battery” as part of a renewable energy service. Please note that it is a physical battery that supplies energy, but in reality, it is only a credit or compensation system. For example, if you generate more energy than you consume, the “virtual battery” allows you to accumulate excess credits, which you can use more. Sin embargo, these credits are not equivalent to the credits obtained with a real battery and the reading of these invoice compensations are not reflected nor detailed in invoices for the consumer. It is crucial to hear this distinction to avoid erroneous expectations regarding real benefits and horrors.
